606 Broadway is designed to respond to the two distinct dynamics of the intersecting streets which it faces. The Broadway side features a strong urban quality enhanced by over 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail. Residential balconies and bays clad in zinc panels and fiber cement lap siding and featuring large expanses of glass energize the street at night, and create a bridge between the exterior and interior of the 46 units. The 6th Street side has a residential quality echoing the scale of neighboring apartment buildings; residents enter through a courtyard before reaching a second, more private garden that provides access to the building. This reinforces the transition from urban to residential, as well as reduces the perceived mass of the project, respecting the 2-story building next door.
